Digital Transformation Guidelines for Insurance Brokers in Ghana

Today’s customers expect brokers to assess risks, provide the best quotes, consult on the type of policy people need to buy and offer support with the processing of claims.

In this respect, the Insurance Brokers Association of Ghana (IBAG) with the support of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, through its component on Financial Systems Development (FSD) under the Programme for Sustainable Economic Development (PSED) sought to train 300 members of Insurance Brokers Associations of Ghana (IBAG) on Digital Transformation Guidelines.

The objective of the assignment was to train members of IBAG on

  1. Cost-effective digital technologies and solutions that could be utilized to facilitate day-to-day operations.
  2. Digital skills and tools to reduce waste, increase efficiency, improve turn-around time leading to customer satisfaction and increase in profit.

As part of the project, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and the Insurance Brokers Association of Ghana (IBAG) engaged MGA Consulting Ghana Limited (MGA Consulting), as the qualified consulting firm to undertake a hands-on capacity-building program for members of IBAG on Digital Transformation Guidelines.

The main facilitator in the person of Anthony Ayivi took the participants through the need to digitalize and stressed the fact that

There has been a fundamental shift in how business gets done, where staying relevant means becoming an active part of a customer’s digital life”

On the first day, the representative of GIZ present, Angelina Yeboah welcomed participants and expressed her joy for participants who made it to the training. She talked about GIZ’s willingness to support Brokers in their endeavor to digitalize their operations. She urged participants to seize the opportunity and learn more about digitalizing their operations to become more efficient.

Following the speech by the IBAG, the Chief Executive Officer of MGA Consulting, Michael Abbiw, spoke to participants. He expressed his gratitude to GIZ for the opportunity to be chosen as the consultant for this project. He also thanked the leadership of IBAG and the participants. He went further to elaborate on the need for digitalization in the business environment today. He mentioned that in today’s world, a brand is not as significant as the value you offer to your customers. He encouraged participants to develop a keen interest in the training as it will help them learn some digital tools to be used in their operations.

The participants were happy and expressed their gratefulness to  GIZ in supporting this training. “The learning points gained will go a long way in making a big impact on my organization’s processes” said a participant.

The training period took one month from 23rd August 2022 to 29th September 2022 at Mensvic Grand Hotel and Airport View Hotel respectively in Accra-Ghana
