Ghana Insurers Association Cuts Sod for Office Complex
The Ghana Insurers Association (GIA) has organised a sod cutting and tree planting ceremony for the construction of a state-of-the-art office complex to house its secretariat and provide spaces for conferences as well as consultancy.
The symbolic exercise was done by Ms Aretha Duku, the President and Board Chairperson of the Ghana Insurers Association, assisted by Mr Justice Ofori, the Commissioner of Insurance at the National Insurance Commission and Reverend Florence Benneh Simpson, the Minister In-Charge of the Vision Presby Church.
Ms Duku expressed her gratitude to all the members of the GIA for their support of the project and also paid tribute to her predecessors for their vision.
She said the project is estimated to be completed within a two-year time frame, depending upon the flow of funds and urged all GIA members to pay their subscriptions on time to help sustain the financing of the project; and also appealed to individuals and corporate entities to support the worthy course.
Mr Ofori applauded the GIA for the initiative saying the exercise marked the beginning of a strong future for the Association and pledged the NIC’s support.
Mr William Evans Halm, the Principal Architect and Chief Executive Officer of Spektra Global, a design and construction firm, said the building would have many smart and climate sensitive features to ensure its sustainability.
He said the company has gained several years of experience in the building and construction industry and was poised to deliver within the time frame.
